I took the promo pic of them, and made it a black and white pic and pumped up the contast a bit. On a new layer I mapped out the black or darker shapes and filled it with black, until it was completed. Then I deleted the original photo layer and on a new layer under the black shapes added a white background and flattened/merged the layers together.
